Man Arrested for Assaulting Police Officer Submitted: 11/19/2009
Baileyville - A 49-year-old Baileyville man was arrested Wednesday for assaulting a police officer.

David Troy, was taken into custody after an altercation with Baileyville Police Chief Philip Harriman.

Chief Harriman was attempting to serve a protection from harassment order to Troy at 307 Main Street.

In doing so, Chief Harriman got into a physical altercation with him and sustained facial injuries. The Chief was transported to Calais Regional Hospital and has since been released.

Troy, meanwhile, was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail in Machias and his bail has been set at $5,000.

The Washington County Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident.
