Coats for Mature Mainers Submitted: 11/17/2009
Bangor - If you have any extra adult winter coats in your closet, the Eastern Area Agency on Aging wants to take them off your hands, for a good cause.

For the second year in a row, the flagship LL Bean store in Freeport is donating $5 for each coat collected to the Kepp ME Warm Fund.

The collected garments will be distributed to adults in need through the Eastern Area Agency on Aging and its 47 meal sites.

Last year, 1,300 coats were donated.

" A lot of the group homes for adults with disabilities have no extra funding for clothing at all, so they came over with their vans, and everyone got a coat, and they were thrilled. I think it really fills a need that we never have done before," said Noelle Merrill, the Executive Director of the Eastern Area Agency on Aging.

You can donate a coat at EAAA until 4:30 Friday afternoon.

They will then be driven down to Freeport on Saturday to be included with the Keep ME Warm Fund donations.
