Lincoln News Destroyed by Fire Submitted: 11/06/2009
LINCOLN - Employees and fire crews are on scene salvaging equipment and cleaning up the scene where the more than 40-year-old Lincoln News caught fire last night.

At around 6:45 Thursday evening, Lincoln Fire received several reports that the newspaper print company located on West Broad was on fire. Assisting Lincoln Fire in battling the blaze were Howland, Lee, and Mattawamkeag Fire Departments. Crews were on scene until midnight putting out the fast moving flames. Though fire crews were able to salvage some computers and equipment, officials have determined the structure is a total loss, which puts 20 employees out of work. Kevin Tenggren and his wife own the newspaper, and according to employees, this is the second time the shop has caught fire; the first was in the 70’s when it was owned by Tenggren’s mother’s fiancé. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating in order to determine the exact cause of the fire.
