Political Sign Vandalism Reported Submitted: 10/22/2009
BANGOR - Supporters of the repeal of gay marriage say their political signs are being stolen and vandalized in the greater Bangor area.

One organizer said Tuesday morning they discovered five signs in front of St. Mary's Church in Bangor were vandalized, and those were not the first ones needing replacement. Jean Barry says all the downtown Bangor signs have been stolen at least once. And in Orrington, authorities caught a man and a woman in a pickup truck alongside the road late last Friday night. Deputies say there were eleven stolen "Yes on One" signs in the back. Elise Pelletier of Carmel and Shane Davis of Bucksport were charged with misdemeanor theft and summonsed for removal of political signs.
