New Portland Man Enters Plea Submitted: 09/28/2009
A New Portland man, accused of killing his former employer 2 years ago, appeared in court Friday.

Jeffery Lagasse, 31, pleaded not guilty to killing Louise Brochu, 50, in June of 2007 at her business, New Portland Wood Flooring.

The state requested a harnish hearing for Lagasse who is being held without bail. He is currently serving a sentence at a Maine State prison in Warren for prior convictions of burglary, theft and arson. He was due to be released in January for that sentence, but because of the murder charge may not be eligible at that time.
