MADAWASKA - Wardens have recovered the body of a man who drowned in Long Lake.
Kareem A. Shaik, 29, of St. Agatha, dove in into the waters yesterday afternoon, off Birch Point. According to Sgt. Brian Gray of the Maine Warden Service, Shaik was trying to get a recreational water tube as it was floating away. Shaik’s body was found by the Maine Warden Service Dive Team in 9 feet of water, approximately 100 yards from shore. The incident is under investigation and a representative from the Maine Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating the cause of Shaik’s death.
