Mainers Deliver 40,000 Letters to the Congressional Delegation Submitted: 09/02/2009
Bangor - 40,000 letters of support for healthcare reform were delivered to members of Maine's congressional delegation Wednesday.

In Bangor, citizens met at Senator Olympia Snowe's office to talk about why they believe reforming healthcare will help lift the state and nation out of recession. Attendees told personal stories about why they believe healthcare reform is needed.

"What bothers me is that simple things don't get treated. There are many diseases which are not that expensive to treat that are not getting taken care of because of the lack of insurance, " said local physician, Karen Hover.

After the brief press conference, the group delivered the letters of support to Senator Snowe's office.

Similar events were held in Caribou and Lewiston.
