BELGRADE - A vehicle autopsy has been conducted to determine what might have caused a fatal crash last week in Belgrade.
Jeremiah Baker, 30, was driving a 1999 Mercury Sable on Route 27 Wednesday evening when it crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a 2000 Ford Explorer driven by Jessica Bourget, 31. Baker was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, while Bourget suffered a crushed ankle and broken leg. Authorities with the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Department believe excessive speed was a primary factor in the crash, but it remains under investigation.
