Fire Destroys Dog Kennel Submitted: 12/11/2009
Charleston - An early morning fire in Charleston, Friday, destroyed a dog kennel. Leaving two pets inside dead.

Fire crews responded to 64 Atkinson Road at around 1:30 Friday morning to a fully involved structure fire after a neighbor noticed the flames.

Crews from Charleston, Corinth, Bradford, and Hudson fought the flames until about 3a.m.

Investigators from the State Fire Marshal's office have been called in to try to determine exactly what caused the fire, but officials believe it may have been electrical.

The kennel, which was used by private breeder, Rob Higgins, only housed the two dogs which were lost.

The property is insured.
