UMaine Pitching Staff Strengthening as Season Winds Down Submitted: 05/09/2008
Orono - The UMaine baseball team has been gearing up all week for their big weekend series with Vermont.
The Black Bear pitching staff has continued to strengthen throughout the year and will be bolstered by the return of ace Joe Miller who has been sidelined due to illness.

Bangor - The Brunswick Dragons played the Bangor Rams on Friday afternoon at Mansfield Stadium. Tyler McDade went deep in the bottom of the third for the Rams to put them up 7-2.

Orono - The UMaine baseball team is preparing for their weekend series with the Vermont Catamounts.
The Black Bears are 18-23-1 on the season and 6-10 in America East play.
That puts them at sixth in the standings, two games out of the fourth and final playoff spot.

Howatt Preparing for Canadian Nationals Submitted: 05/08/2008

Orono - UMaine track and field star Allyson Howatt is looking forward to the experience of participating in the Canadian Senior Nationals.
The games are happening in an Olympic year so they are considered the Olympic Trials.
At just 19-years-old, Howatt would be one of the younger competitors but feels the experience will help her in years to come.

Waters Wins AE Player-of-the-Year Submitted: 05/08/2008

Orono - UMaine junior infielder Ashley Waters of the softball team has been named America East Player- of-the-Year.
The Amesbury, Massachusetts native received the award last night at the America East awards banquet in Albany, New York.
Waters was also named to the All-America East First-Team and the America East All-Academic Team.
Ashley either tied for the lead, or led the league in hits, home runs, and total bases.
She also played solid defense mostly from the shortstop position.

UMaine Track Stars Qualify for Canadian Olympic Trials Submitted: 05/07/2008

Orono - With their performances at last weekend's America East Championships, Alyson Howatt and Vicki Tolton of the UMaine track & field team have both qualified for the Canadian Olympic Trials.
Howatt, the New Brunswick native qualified for the one-hundred and two-hundred meter dash.
Tolton is from Smithers, British Columbia and qualified in the four-hundred meter dash.
