Several Winter Events Cancelled in Maine Submitted: 02/03/2012
A number of winter events scheduled for this weekend have been cancelled due to the lack of snow we're used to seeing this time of year.

The seventh annual wilderness sled dog race originally set to run Saturday in the Moosehead lake region is cancelled due to lack of snow. The need for more flakes is also the reason behind the cancellation of the annual Waterville winter carnival. It was scheduled for tomorrow at the quarry road recreation area, but officials say conditions are too icy in the morning and too warm in the afternoon.

The largest ice fishing derby in Maine is canceled because the ice is too dangerous. The sebago lake ice fishing derby was scheduled for the weekend of February 18th and 19th but now is canceled for the season.
