GLENBURN - A school bus carrying elementary students was involved in an accident yesterday afternoon that sent two people to the hospital. Around 3:00, 27-year-old Erika Mitchell of Kenduskeag fell asleep at the wheel of her Buick Century. She was driving on Route 15 in Glenburn just over the Bangor town line. Mitchell then rear-ended a 2002 Ford Taurus driven by 48-year-old Cheryl Brown of Glenburn. Brown’s car then ran into the back of the bus carrying 4 elementary students from Glenburn. The children were all okay, but Brown had to be rescued using the Jaws of Life. Both women were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening head injuries, and both cars were totaled. Police say Mitchell fell asleep because of medication.
